We built Telaya on a foundation of family and hard work. These two principles guide our philosophy in handcrafting Idaho and Washington wines, and our focus on hospitality.

Telaya started in 2008, when we produced 50 cases of carefully conceived wine. We’ve grown quite a bit since then. Our facility — which includes a full production space and tasting room — is located right on the Boise Greenbelt, just minutes from downtown and a few feet from the Boise River. Guests can enjoy tasting flights, glasses and bottles of our Washington and Idaho wine while overlooking the scenic river.

Telaya is the brainchild of Earl and his wife Carrie. In his frequent travels abroad as the COO of a pharmaceutical company, Earl’s background as a biochemist merged with his exposure to various wines and wine styles. This all resulted in a certainty that winemaking was the next step in his life journey, especially because it would foster the opportunity to spend more time with Carrie and their two boys.
 
Earl’s first major Telaya projects included producing an experimental 2008 blend with Carrie. With the support of consultants and his own experience harvesting with another winery, he set the course for Telaya’s core flavor profile and concept.  
 
In addition to owning and operating Telaya, Earl owns a consulting practice, E2S, which focuses on high growth business with an emphasis in beverage and healthcare. In his free time (ha!), he serves as a Commissioner for the Grape Growers and Wine Producers Commission and  on for-profit and non-profit boards including the College of Western Idaho, The CORE, Zona Healthcare, and MSI Micro Vac.

Earl Sullivan

Carrie leads Telaya along with her husband, Earl. Nearing Carrie’s 40th birthday, they worked through ways to prioritize family while still allowing Carrie to pursue her passion of science. Winemaking was that answer, and she’s never looked back!
 
After completing a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ohio State University in 2000, Carrie practiced in Columbus, Ohio and Boise, Idaho. Her two sons arrived in 2004 and 2007, and she found that striking that work-life balance was becoming more difficult–now, as a business owner and winemaker, Carrie has the flexibility to be present for her boys while fostering her natural ambition and drive.
 
Carrie credits her time with winemakers in Washington and Idaho for the foundation of her winemaking education. As her boys become more independent, she’s been able to spend even more time in the cellar, continuously researching to hone her skills and craft. Her journey to becoming a winemaker has culminated in that balance she was always searching for–working with her husband, spending time with her sons, and pursuing her passions.

Syrah Blend

Presenting our flagship red blend, the Turas "Journey." Named for the Irish-Gaelic word for "journey," Turas is a celebration of our wine journey through the years. Since 2008, we have produced this Syrah-based blend by combining the best lots of the vintage.

One of our most popular and decorated wines, this is an elegant, refined Cabernet. These grapes are grown under the care of Milo & Kay May in their vineyard overlooking the Columbia River, where the views are almost as good as the fruit.

Red Blend

Sruth "River" is our take on a big, Bordeaux-style blend designed to either drink now or lay down for ten 
more years; it will be rich and delicious both now and then. Named for the Irish-Gaelic word for "river," Sruth is our homage to our current home on the banks of the Boise River.

Cabernet Franc is not only a highly sought-after varietal that exhibits a wide range of flavors and textures, but it is also one of Earl's truly favorite wines to make.

A classic, clean version of Chardonnay. No barrel treatment or secondary fermentation. 

Chardonnay - Chablis Style

Austrian in origin, this grape grows well in Idaho. Come try a sip of this tasty staff favorite!

Grüner Veltliner

A rare varietal almost exclusively grown in Spain, but a fun new addition to one of our Idaho Vineyard partners.

A big, intense, spicy Syrah from one of Washington's most legendary vineyards.  

Syrah - Ciel du Cheval

Our version of a red wine drinker's white wine--complex, yet approachable and refreshing. 

Viognier - Block 39

Big bold spices really define this wine. Rich, yet smooth, with a lingering finish which screams Idaho Syrah. 

Syrah - Block 46

A new varietal for Telaya from our newest vineyard, Picpoul means "Stings the Lips" so we made it a bit zippy. 

One of the newest varietals to Telaya's arsenal of white wines. Light, refreshing, and aromatic--this will be a great summer wine to sip on!

A new take on an old friend! We've used this vineyard block to create our signature Rosé of Syrah for years, but the fruit is just too good as it continues to mature–we felt it also needed to be represented as a full Syrah.  

Syrah - Skyline Vineyard

A fan favorite, year after year, this Chardonnay made in Carrie's personal style is perfect for those in search of a bold white wine with big oak, cream, and hints of tropical fruits. 

Chardonnay - Carrie's Select

A uniquely cold vineyard allows this fruit to take it's time developing, leading to intense wines with balanced fruit and tannins and a generally more "delicate" take on Cab.
